Basque Shirt
The “Basque Shirt” is a demo product made by Goldwin as part of the “biosphere circulation” project (learn more). The product is designed so that it can be broken down into nutrients for upcycling at end-of-use, in accordance with the preliminary guidelines for biosphere circulation compatible textile products.
Care Instructions:
Machine wash cold with similar colors, line dry away from direct light, wash as infrequently as possible to reduce energy and water use.
Handling Instructions:
Avoid excessive stretching at the neckline to maintain integrity of the seam.
Maintenance and repair:
Repair using only biosphere circular materials such as cotton sewing threads so that the product can maintain its ability to be upcycled through biosphere circulation at end-of-use.

This means that with the right infrastructure, the product can be broken down into biological nutrients which can be reused as a valuable resource. The “biosphere circulation” project (link) aims to drive the development of such infrastructure to enable a new circular ecosystem of biological materials in the future. If this product reaches its end-of-use before this new ecosystem is in place, please hold on to it until then! Once the infrastructure for the biosphere circulation ecosystem is ready, this text (the “End-of-use” instructions you are reading right now) will be updated to inform you how to have this product upcycled through biological nutrient extraction.
